Land Stewardship

Tending to Our
Natural Systems

Eco Mosaics Restoration is founded on the belief that healthy land and healthy communities are inseparable — and that there is opportunity for all of us to care for and steward our land.

After a decade of work in renewable energy, driving toward a future powered by solar and batteries, I decided to move in a different direction — changing my mission from energy generation to living, working systems. I have always enjoyed systems thinking, and the mindset I developed studying Mechanical Engineering is one I want to put to work shifting the way we participate in our ecosystems. I enjoy thinking and learning about landscapes as a system, with many sub-systems — a mosaic of ecosystems, biomes, and habitats.

Three years ago I made a deliberate change. I wanted work that kept me outside, work that put my hands in the soil and strengthened my body, and work where I could see and feel the difference. I started learning regenerative agriculture and practicing fruit and vegetable farming in San Francisco at Alemany Farm. I got involved with the California Native Plant Society, working to restore native plant communities in grasslands, woodlands, and riparian corridors across the Bay Area. And I have been working with a ranch outside of Santa Fe — building rock and juniper structures to slow water, trap sediment, and heal incised channels and eroded gullies.

I believe that communities engaged in the health of their land are more resilient, more connected, and more aware of where their food comes from and how the world around them actually works. I started Eco Mosaics Restoration to act on that belief, and to bring people along as great stewards of our pale blue dot.
